Blue

There’s a knotted string
Where your blue plastic flowers would hang
In my rearview mirror
Facing the road
I remember the day you handed them to me I had seen them in the yard and moved past because they weren’t real blue flowers vibrant in the grass
Moments later looking peculiar you sauntered in and handed them to me
Forever flowers
And I took them
And bottled them up
For someday
